The independent ground floor double room Marquise has French doors to the grounds and terrace. It is tastefully decorated with a nautical theme and has a standard double bed.

The two other rooms are in the main house on the first floor each with it's own private bathroom. Gladys has a queen size double bed and two further singles in a large double aspect bedroom. The room is in the roof at one end of the 17th century longere and has oak beams, attention is needed as the main cross beam is low. Windows look out east and west across the grounds. The floor is carpeted and there is easily enough space for the extra beds which are before the main cross beam and off to one side of the door. On the left of the hall before entering the bedroom is the private bathroom and wc.

At the opposite end of the house also on the first floor is the other bedroom Eugenie. Passing through the first entrance door there is a small anti-room which has two slide out single beds for extra sleeping accommodation. Off this room to the right is the private bathroom and wc. Continuing through the next door is the large double aspect main bedroom with twin beds and small table and chairs.

Outside the house is a large terrace where guests take breakfast in the summer, at other times breakfast is taken in the lounge / dining room of the main house. THE LOCATION

Bergerac offers restaurants to suite all tastes and budgets, with delightful pavement cafes, shops, musuems and historic buildings, it's narrow streets and tinyl squares, fountains and hidden corners await to be discoverd. From the old port take a boat trip on a traditional flat bottomed Gabare or take the little road train for a guided tour of the town.

Follow the 'Route des Vins' which will take you south out of Bergerac across the river to the Chateau Monbazillac. From here you can visit and sample the famous white desert wine and look back over the valley to Bergerac.

THE AREA

Venturing a little further afield follow the River Dordogne eastwards to the bastide of Lalinde on to the Chateau Beynac and Castelnaud, to dicover the history and pre-history of the Dordogne and the beautiful countryside.

To the north of Bergerac lies the capital Perigueux with it's splendid cathedral and wonderful old centre. The world famous site of Lascaux with it's pre-historic cave paintings is within easy reach.

For the more energetic take a bike ride along the country lanes and tracks or venture out on the river in a canoe. There is something to do for everyone and all ages and you will appreciate the fine food and gentle pace of life along with the very friendly welcome of the local people.
