Brantome, often described as the little Venice of the Dordogne is 10 minutes away, an attractive town it has a nice mix of medieval and renaissance architecture to admire. There are riverside cafes and restaurants and a Friday market. It is worthy of a visit and a day or half a day out.

Your holiday house is located in the centre of the village with it’s own private garden giving on to the river. Just a walk away are all the amenities you might want, from the baker to the grocer, local shops are on your doorstep. An open air public swimming pool (with child’s paddling pool and life guard in attendance), tennis, cycling and country walks are in or around the village.

Sit out on the terrace and simply soak in the view or talk a stroll through the village and along the banks of the river. For the more energetic, there are canoes and bikes for hire, and horse riding. Throughout July and August on Wednesday and Friday evenings (21:00) there are torch light walks through the alleys of this lovely village. There are many more events of different sorts taking place during the summer, concerts, fireworks, exhibitions.

An ideal base from which to venture out and explore some of the many places of interest in the Dordogne. Nearby Brantome is known as the Venice of the Dordogne, the River Dronne encircling the small town, linked to the outside world by five bridges. Excellent restaurants. Lovely market on Fridays and in the summer always painting exhibitions in the Abbey.
